Celebrating Santa Catarina November 20th 2022 There is a special connection between Carmel Valley and Santa Catarina, a small town in central Mexico named for the saint. Many families on the Monterey Peninsula have roots there starting in the early 50's and 60;s. Big Band Dinner & Dance ($10-$25)

Why stroll back in time when you can swing back in time, to the sizzling standards of Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey, and Benny Goodman. This evening-dinner dance features 1940's style Big Band tunes performed by the Road Scholar Big Band, under the capable baton of Conductor Elmer Ramsey. Elmer had his own 40s-style Big Band at age 17 and, at 19, made a West Coast tour with Mel Torme, and has worked with Shirley Jones, John Raitt, Florence Henderson and Julie Andrews. Mollie O’Neal received her BA in Dance and Theatre Arts from Lone Mountain College in San Francisco and her secondary and community college credentials from Emmanual College in Boston, MA. Through her professional dance career she has choreographed and performed with numerous dance companies in Boston, San Francisco and on the Monterey Peninsula. Most notably she interned with the Twyla Tharp Dance Company. Currently Mollie choreographs and rehearses with a group of dancers on the peninsula and is a guest instructor at various locations including ongoing classes at Hidden Valley Dance Center. ...
