Ali Ryerson, "easily the most important jazz flutist to have emerged thus far this decade" (San Francisco Express, '96) has toured the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan, New Zealand and Africa, performing in jazz festivals and concert halls, including the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. Again voted in 2006 one of the top flutists in the Downbeat Jazz Poll, Ms. Ryerson's most recent recordings include Flutology-First Date featuring Frank Wess and Holly Hofmann on the Capri label and Soul Quest, which features Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz founder, Steve Rudolph. Ms. Ryerson's latest recording, on the Sweet Jazz label, is due for release in 2008. Ali has performed and recorded with such diverse talents as Stephane Grappelli, Kenny Barron, Frank Wess, Art Farmer, Red Rodney, Laurindo Almeida, Roy Haynes, Julius Baker, and (as principal flutist with the Monterey Bay Symphony) with Luciano Pavarotti. Orchestral performances have included appearances with numerous orchestras throughout the country. In addition to her performance schedule, she is currently the Jazz Chair for the National Flute Association. Ali conducts jazz flute seminars throughout the country and abroad, including presentations at IAJE, the NFA convention, New Zealand Flute Convention, Eastman School of Music, Ohio State Univ., Univ. of Alaska, Florida Flute Assoc., Univ. of Mass., Villanova, Duquesne, USC, and Western CT State Univ. Recently she was commissioned to write a jazz flute method book, due for publication August 2008. Ms. Ryerson is a Sankyo Artist for Gemstone Musical Instruments. |

The charming, rustic 10-acre campus includes a residence hall, 300 seat theatre, fireside room, dance studio and numerous outdoor decks and patios.
Accommodations: Wright Hall is our 20 room, single story, on-campus residence hall. Rooms with private bath open to an outside covered walk.
