Session Schedule

The LeClair Bassoon Master Class opens on Wednesday June 20th, 2018 with dinner at 6:00 pm and closes with breakfast on Wednesday June 27th, 2018.

Teacher Biography

Judith LeClair joined the New York Philharmonic as Principal Bassoonist in 1981 at the age of 23. Since that time she has made over fifty solo performances with the orchestra performing under conductors such as Sir Colin Davis, Kurt Masur, Zubin Mehta, Andre Previn, Lorin Maazel and Alan Gilbert. Ms. LeClair is on the faculty at the Juilliard School, is an internationally active chamber player and has given master classes throughout the world. Ms LeClair premiered The Five Sacred Trees, a concerto written for her by John Williams.

Application Information

All new participant applications should be supported by 2 letters of recommendation; in some cases audition tapes or CDs will be requested. All applications will be processed on receipt and after application fee is received. Applicants will be notified by mail. A non-refundable payment of $300.00 is due upon acceptance. Balance is due 10 days before the opening date of class.

Judith LeClair in Performance

Each master class includes a concert, open to the public, featuring the master teacher performing a wide array of repertoire highlighting their instrument.  Judith LeClair and Robert Walters present an evening of bassoon and English horn on Monday June 25, 2018 at 7:30 pm. Those who are not in the master class may purchase tickets to this performance HERE.

Judith LeClair plays the Five Sacred Trees (Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra), with John Williams conducting the London Symphony Orchestra.
