Nestled in the foothills of the Santa Lucias in the world famous Carmel/Monterey area, Hidden Valley is located 12 miles east of the ocean, near the Carmel Valley Village in Carmel Valley, California. The eight-acre campus comprises a theatre, dance studio, rehearsal/teaching spaces and gazebos, a residence halls, and dining center.
A year round performing arts institution, primarily focused on music, Hidden Valley's curriculum includes master classes, festival of winds, emerging composers intensive, workshops, camps, dance center, and additional music education opportunities through long-term collaborations with other organizations (Road Scholar, Orff Schulwerk, Young People's Symphony Orchestra, Golden Gate Chamber Players, Youth Music Monterey). Many of the education programs feature public performances presented in the 300 seat Hidden Valley Theatre including productions by Hidden Valley Opera Ensemble and the summer Masters' Festival Concert Series comprised of the world-renowned faculty of our master classes.
Carmel Valley is always (don't hold us to this) sunny. Mornings and evenings are a bit chilly...delightful sweater weather. Be sure to bring a jacket. Good walking shoes are a must. The charming Village of Carmel Valley (one-half mile away) is a small, friendly community that offers several restaurants, a small library, lots of wineries, and provides most of the services you might need. Public tennis courts are close by, as is a municipal pool, open in the summer. The nearest laundromat is five miles away at the mid-valley shopping center. Garland Ranch Regional Park, a few miles away & on MST Line 24, offers hundreds of acres suitable for hiking, photography, horseback riding, jogging, walking, bird watching, painting and simple solitude.
Monterey Salinas Transit, the local bus service, has a bus stop (MST Line 24) across from the top of Hidden Valley's driveway, on Carmel Valley Road. MST Line 24 ends at Carmel Crossroads shopping area at Hwy 1 and Carmel Valley Road. Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey can be reached by taking MST Line 5 or 91 at Carmel Crossroads. The public bus is an affordable way to get from Carmel Valley to the Carmel Crossroads, Carmel by the Sea or Monterey for $2.00/person or $1.00 for minors and seniors.
