Big Band Workshop

October 1 - 6, 2023

Conductor: Craig Buhler

Make Music with fellow musicians in a fun, inspiring week!

Big band players gather to participate in rehearsals and music classes under the guidance of a seasoned professional conductor and teacher, Craig Buhler. Between classes, enjoy informal jam sessions, the serene and inspiring beauty of Hidden Valley Music Seminars in Carmel Valley, California. The big band workshop will be filled with inspiring musical sessions that culminate in putting on a live performance Thursday evening. Rehearsals, repertoire, and approach will be tailored to participant skills and interests with selections ranging from Big Band classics to more contemporary and jazz inspired compositions.

This year the Big Band workshop will take place alongside a Road Scholar birding program. Some meals and activities will be shared, like an evening local wine tasting & talk. There will also be a stretching and breathing class each morning before breakfast with Deanna Ross. One evening meal will be excluded from the program and is "on your own" to explore and enjoy local cuisine.
