Presented by HVMS

Big band players gather to participate in rehearsals and music classes under the guidance of a seasoned professional conductor and teacher, Craig Buhler. Between classes, enjoy informal jam sessions and the serene beauty of Hidden Valley Music Seminars in Carmel Valley, California. The big band workshop will be filled with inspiring musical sessions that culminate in putting on a live performance with our local community. Rehearsals, repertoire, and approach will be tailored to participant skills and interests with selections ranging from Big Band classics to more contemporary and jazz inspired compositions.
Additional program activities includes expert-led lecture on the natural history of Monterey, wine tasting of local varietals with a master vineyardist, daily stretching and breathing classes, and a free afternoon and evening to explore the area and enjoy local cuisine.
This year the Big Band workshop will take place alongside our Road Scholar Birding program, sharing meals and activities with more new friends!
