Mark Kosower's Cello Master Class opens with dinner at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24th and closes with brunch at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29th.
Mark Kosower is currently Principal Cello of the Cleveland Orchestra, teacher of cello at the Cleveland Institute of Music and is on the faculty at the Kent/Blossom Music Festival. He additionally maintains a very active career as a soloist and appears in the 2016-2017 seasons with Sir Andrew Davis and The Cleveland Orchestra in Severance Hall, Andrey Boreyko and the Indianapolis Symphony, JoAnn Falletta and the Buffalo Philharmonic, Stefan Sanderling and the Toledo Symphony, and Tito Munoz and the Phoenix Symphony. Mr. Kosower has been soloist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, the China National Symphony, the Bamberg Symphony, the Orchestre de Paris, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Brazilian Symphony, the Venezuelan Symphony, and the symphony orchestras of Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Minnesota, and Seattle among many others. His previous posts include Solo Cellist of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra in Germany from 2006-10, and Professor of Cello and Chamber Music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music from 2005-07. Mark Kosower began his cello studies with his father at the age of 1 ½, and later studied with Janos Starker at Indiana University and Joel Krosnick at the Juilliard School.
All new participant applications should be supported by 2 letters of recommendation; in some cases audition tapes or CDs will be requested. All applications will be processed on receipt and after application fee is received. Applicants will be notified by mail. A non-refundable payment of $300.00 is due upon acceptance. Balance is due 10 days before the opening date of class.

Each master class includes a concert, open to the public, featuring the master teachers performing a wide array of repertoire highlighting their instrument. On Monday, July 25th, 7:30 pm Mark Kosower and pianist Jee-Won Oh present an evening of cello and piano works. Those who are not in the master class may purchase tickets to this performance HERE.
