Ali Ryerson's Flute Master Class opens with dinner at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12th and closes with brunch at 11:00 a.m. on  Friday, June 17th.

Teacher Biography

With a career spanning over four decades, jazz flutist Ali Ryerson consistently ranks among the top jazz flutists in the Downbeat Jazz Poll and has been honored as Jazz Flutist of the Year nominee by the Jazz Journalists Association. Ms. Ryerson has released close to 20 albums on major jazz labels and has toured the US, Canada, Europe, Japan, New Zealand and Africa performing in jazz festivals and concert halls, including the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. In addition to her performing schedule, Ms. Ryerson has served as the Jazz Chair for the National Flute Association and conducts jazz flute seminars throughout the county and abroad. A Gemeinhardt Artist with an Autograph Series of flutes she helped design, Ali's 2013 CD release, Game Changer – The Ali Ryerson Jazz Flute Big Band (Capri Records), features guest soloist Hubert Laws. It hit the 'TOP 10' on the US Jazz Charts for six straight weeks.

All new participant applications should be supported by 2 letters of recommendation; in some cases audition tapes or CDs will be requested. All applications will be processed on receipt and after application fee is received. Applicants will be notified by mail. A non-refundable payment of $300.00 is due upon acceptance. Balance is due 10 days before the opening date of class.

Ali Ryerson in Performance

Each masters class includes a concert, open to the public, featuring the master teachers performing a wide array of repertoire highlighting their instrument.  On Thursday June 16th, 7:30 pm Ali Ryerson presents Jazz Flute Night, where her talents are joined by Steve Rudolph on piano, Akira Tana on percussion, and John Wiitala on bass.  For those not in the master class, tickets to this performance may be purchased HERE.
