Festival Rolland is a classical chamber music summer series founded by Bay Area musicians James Jaffe and Ian Scarfe. The festival was born of the idea taht the art form and love for classical chamber music should be shared as widely as possible, and it has grown into an international festival, performing in Burgundy, France, with an international roster of artists. This summer the festival makes its home in Carmel Valley, presenting two varied programs spanning 200 years of music. 

Concert 1: Drive

The first concert is a thrilling journey through folk tunes, driving rhythms, and soaring melodies. Please join the Sierra Quartet and pianist Ian Scarfe for music of Schumann, Adams, and Beethoven.

The second concert of Festival Rolland's series at Hidden Valley takes its title from Alexandra T. Bryant's string quartet Lady Isabelle Was That Kind of Woman, which is based on an English folk song telling the story of a courageous woman who escaped her murderous husband. Dvorák's Piano Quintet in A Major maks the joyous and celebratory end to Festival Rolland's concert series at HiddenValley.
