New Year's Eve Gala

Three of Monterey County's musical treasures—saxophonist George Young, pianist Bobby Phillips, and Eddie Erickson on banjo—cover the Great American Song Book in style during Hidden Valley's New Year's Eve Gala.  In addition to the musical manna from this masterful trio, the evening also boasts a delicious menu of small plates, and a champagne toast.  There will be not only magic in the air, but at your table too, when magician Rich Myer casts his spell throughout the evening. 

Richard has been performing magic professionally for the past 15 years and has been named by the International Brotherhood of Magicians as the Magician of the Year for Northern California. He has performed in the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood and the Magic Circle in London. In 2009 he worked on a television show with Uri Geller (who many of you will remember as the "spoon bending" guy) in Cologne, Germany.

George, who has played with everyone from Luciano Pavarotti to Mick Jagger to Tony Bennett, has been extolled by JazzSteps Magazine as,  "Probably the finest, most versatile and most ubiquitous reed player on the planet today."  Bobby, a veteran pianist for broadway shows & many illustrious New York venues (The Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Gardens, Hotel Astor, The Waldorf Astoria, Birdland, the Village Gate), has appeared five times at the Monterey Jazz Festival, and continues to work with artists such as as Ali Ryerson, Charles Loos, Al Cohn, Stan Getz, Richie Cole and Rebecca Parris.  And last, but not least, "the gem that sparkles the brightest", as Jazztime.com refers to Eddie in a review which goes on to say , "He could make it as a guitarist/banjoist, if he chose, and he can double on trombone or cornet. He could also enjoy a career strictly as a singer, but he possesses an irrepressible sense of humor plus a jazz-flavored penchant for ad libbing, thus making him the ideal front man."  They've got chemistry, chops, and humor to boot, which is all a surefire recipe for an engaging wonderful winner of  a new year's eve party.  Don't miss it!
