"Poetry is an incitement to life . . . an intensification," wrote Jeffers, and in this performance his own poetry is supported, deepened, expanded by Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Prokofiev, and Ravel, unveiling themes of death and life, earth and love, music of wind and sea, in addition to sunrises, surprises, whale spouts, sunsets, storms, stones, and peace.
