A wonderful evening twilight supper, followed by the musical works by wonder women, their appreciative sons and husbands.
This Mother's Day program is a celebration of both the brilliance of women composers and the love from mothers that have inspired so many of us. The program begins with two lovely works that have been directly inspired by the latter by William Grant Still and Antonin Dvorak. Then we move onto the brilliant women composers. These works of the women composers embody both the nurturing love they give and the virtuosic brilliance of their artistry, and just how impressive it is for them to have achieved both in their lifetimes! (Hence the title "The Original Wonder Woman!") You will hear particularly in the second half of the program a dialogue between Clara Schumann and Robert Schumann. Clara was a loving wife, nurturing mother (of 8), and one of the best pianists of her time. While also evidently— a great composer. Leading up to experiencing the brilliant writing of the piano trio, we will hear first selections from Robert's "Scenes from Childhood". You can't help but hear Robert describe in his music so expressively the love, contentment, and playfulness that he feels from their family life.
