Masters' Festival Concert- Thomas Stacy - June 16, 2014 (Hidden Valley Music Seminars, an Institute of the Arts)

Many of the great musicians of our time have presented classes and performances at Hidden Valley. Our Masters' Festival Series continues the tradition this summer with six concerts featuring music for English Horn, Cello, Oboe, Bassoon, Flute, and Clarinet. These master musicians leave their symphony orchestras behind to bring you an intimate evening of music focused on solo & duo instruments as you've never heard them before.

June 16 Thomas Stacy

Thomas Stacy, recently retired after 39 years as English Hornist with the New York Philharmonic, continues an active performance schedule.

He appeared with the Orchestra as a soloist more than 70 times with conductors including Leonard Bernstein, Pierre Boulex, Andre Previn, and Zubin Mehta.

Mr. Stacy is the most recorded English hornist in the world, receiving a Grammy nomination in 2005 for his recording of Kenneth Fuch's EVENTIDE-Concerto for English Horn, with the London Symphony Orchestra on the Naxos Label. He graduated with distinction from the Eastman School of Music.

Tonight he is joined by pianist Eric Sedgwick in a program featuring Four Ave Maria's by Bach/Gounod, Piazzola, Caccini, & Schubert, Daniel Pinkham's For Evening Draws On, Partita by Jan Koetsier, and a work written for Mr. Stacy by Calvin Hampton.
